People ask what’s actually in my shed, so here it is. This is the real list. Every product here is something I use on my own zoysia in Peachtree City, not a roundup I copied off a manufacturer’s site. Where there’s a cheaper product that does the same job, I say so in the linked guide.

Spreading and spraying
Echo RB-60 broadcast spreader. My everyday spreader. Factory-calibrated, real tires that don’t trap granules, and a hopper big enough for most home lawns. It’s the mid-tier sweet spot between the big-box plastic units that hurt results and the $650 stainless pro models you don’t need.
VEVOR 4-gallon battery backpack sprayer. Consistent pressure, no pump fatigue, and the last 1,000 sq ft gets the same rate as the first. This is what makes spraying chemistry actually enjoyable instead of a chore.
Monterey Mark-It Blue spray dye and Hi-Yield Spreader Sticker. A capful of dye shows exactly where I’ve sprayed, no skips or double passes. The spreader sticker helps foliar products grab the blade instead of beading off. Two cheap add-ons that punch above their price.
Leveling, plugging, edging
48-inch double-sided leveling rake. Bigger and more versatile than the little 30-inch lutes. The tool I reach for when I’m working sand into low spots.
5-in-1 ProPlugger. Made in the USA, pulls clean plugs, and doubles for bulbs and soil samples. What I use to fill in thin areas from my own turf instead of buying trays.
AMES saw-tooth border edger. A $30 manual edger that cuts a clean bed line. No gas, no batteries, no excuses.
Chemistry I actually run
Fungicide rotation: Atticus Artavia 2 SC (azoxystrobin) + Gunner 14.3 (propiconazole). The combo I bought and rotate for large patch. Same active ingredients as the big-name products, a fraction of the price. The disease itself is covered in the large patch guide.
Post-emergent weeds: Sertay (sulfosulfuron) + Celsius WG. Sertay is the generic of Certainty at about half the price. Celsius is the universally warm-season-safe one. Between them they cover almost everything.
Crabgrass: BASF Drive XLR8 (quinclorac). The 64-ounce jug is years of supply. Dose it accurately on zoysia and pair it with MSO. How and when to use it is in the crabgrass rescue guide.
Surface insects: generic 7.9% bifenthrin. Same pyrethroid the pros use, cheap by the bottle, and it doubles as a foundation perimeter treatment.
PGR: Primo MAXX (trinexapac-ethyl). Slows top growth, thickens the lawn, and stretches the time between mows. Generic T-Nex is the cheaper twin if you’d rather. How to use it without yellowing is in the Primo MAXX guide.
Color, fertility, soil
FeATURE 6-0-0 chelated iron. Deep green in 48 hours without dumping more nitrogen, and it won’t stain concrete. My go-to for color.
Lawn Synergy liquid fertility. Part of my foliar program. Real results on my own lawn.
Kelp4less fulvic / humic / kelp blend. A biostimulant I mix into foliar applications. (No affiliate link here, I just use it.)
Soil tools: a digital pH pen, a VIVOSUN 3-in-1 meter, and citric acid for knocking down irrigation-water pH. Cheap, and they keep me honest about what the lawn actually needs before I spend a dime on inputs.
Where I buy
I’m not loyal to a store, I’m loyal to the math. As a rough rule:
- Chemistry, concentrates, and specialty fertilizer I buy from the specialty retailers, because that’s where the pro-grade generics live at honest prices.
- Tools, spreaders, sprayers, and soil meters I usually grab from Amazon, since that’s the easy, trusted checkout for commodity gear.
Every recommendation on this site follows the same test: does it work, and does the cost math make sense. If a cheaper product passes both, that’s the one I’ll point you to.
